Consortium Announcement
We are excited to invite hornists to join a consortium commissioning a new work for horn octet by composer Gina Gillie. Dr. Gillie has been an active composer for over 20 years writing primarily for brass, and her music has been performed internationally in countries including Australia, Belgium, Canada, Portugal, and the U.S. Her Mountain Ascent for trombone octet was the 2022 winner of the International Women’s Brass Conference Composition Competition. Mountain Ascent was also featured on the NuCorno concert at the 57th International Horn Symposium at James Madison University in June of 2025. Dr. Gillie has been commissioned by groups such as the Interlochen Symphonic Band and the Seattle Philharmonic.
Consortium Details
Complete details:
- Horn Octet
- 10 minutes in length - as a collection of Mexican Dances
- Accessible to undergraduate students
- All consortium members will receive a pdf of the score and parts.
- All consortium members will be acknowledged in the score.
- Deadline to join: December 31, 2025
- Delivery date to consortium: TBD
- The premiere performance will be give at the 2026 Northeast horn Workshop.
- After the premiere, the work will be available to perform exclusively by consortium members until January, 2027.
